Celebration in the Viennese Town hall On the 19th of October 2000 the Austrian State Award for Jewellery and the "FEJA", the First European Jewellery Award, took place in the Festival Hall. This time the gallerist Renate Slavik was member of the international jury, under the chairman Dr. Fritz Falk, Director of the Jewellery Museum Pforzheim. The Austrian State Award for Jewellery of precious metals is awarded every three years, this year already for the fourth time. The competition was written out by the Ministry of economy and organized by the Federal Association of Jewellers. A large number of models of 95 jewellers and artists of eight federal states were sent in. The creativity of the jewellery piece as well as the craft quality of the manufacture were judged, also function and portability. This year´s Austrian State Award was presented to the Viennese jeweller Harald Seitner for his creation , a neck ring out of an iridium-platinum metal sheet with an aquamarine. For his creation he also was awarded the Special Platin Award. In addition three Awards of Recognition were presented, one als by Renate Slavik to the Viennese jeweller Elisabeth Krainer for her wonderful creation out of silver, whitegold and off-set nylon fabric. For the first time the "FEJA", the First European Jewellery Award, was presented on the 19. October, which is very important for the international platform of creative and individual jewellery. 168 jewellers of 19 European countries took part and the jury chose seven winners of Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden. Among the "FEJA" winners there is also the Dutch artist Annelies Planteydt, who is also presented since many years in the Gallery Slavik. Her awarded piece is a necklace out of pearls and goldrings, which can be worn in three different ways, simple, long or as double piece. Ohters of her magnificent creations can be looked at and tried on in the Gallery Slavik! |
