Opposites attract, contrasts stimulate - an exhibition of works by the artist couple Christiane Förster and Norman Weber at Vienna’s Galerie Slavik, confirms the truth of these proverbs.
Brooches woven of fine silver wire adorned with multi-coloured gems pay homage to the art of bobbin lace making practiced in past centuries. Things transient, the ephemeral nature of things are the themes explored by Christiane Förster, who just recently received the Danner Honorary Award for the third time. Enamel, gold, glass, silver, synthetic materials are the staff of which she creates her delicate works using sophisticated techniques.
